Introducing the Conffab podcast

Back in 2005, when podcasting was very new, at our second conference, Web Essentials ’05, (sadly long since lost from the Web) we podcast every conference session at the close of each day. It even included a recording of us having to evacuate the conference due to a fire alarm just as one of the speakers finished.

Over the years I’ve appeared on many podcasts as a guest, but finally, after all these years we’re starting our own podcast.

It’ll be a mixture of conversations with interesting folks from our industry, and past conference presentations that lend themselves to the audio format.

In the leadup to our Product://Remote conference we’ll be featuring a number of conversations with speakers about their work, ideas and the themes of the conference.

In conversation with Aarron Walter

First up I talk with Aarron Walter. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Aarron for many years, working with him on initiatives around education at the W3C and elsewhere. Long-time head of design at Mailchimp, and more recently VP of Design Education at Invision, and now working for Resolve To Save Lives, a global health initiative that aims to save 100 million lives from cardiovascular disease and prevent epidemics.

He’s the author of Designing for Emotion, the second edition of which has just been published.

We talk about how the industry has changed in the 2 decades or more Aarron has been involved in it, as well as how different the first and second editions of Designing for Emotion are, one coming at the beginning of the decade, and the other at the end.
