Top Marking Questions and Answers from Home Care Franchise Owners:

May 6, 2014 by Valerie VanBooven RN BSN

I Own a Home Care Franchise- But My Required Franchise Website Isn’t Generating Leads. What Can I Do?

Let’s define the meaning of a home care franchise.

If you own a “branded” home care agency, and paid a franchise fee, you own a home care franchise. There are many large home care franchises that have a nationwide presence, and there are smaller regional franchises.

If you own or market a home care franchise your internet marketing options may be “seemingly” limited based on your contract.

Most home care franchisors require the agency owner to use their corporate designed websites for branding reasons. (In other words, you can’t go build your own website, you have to use the one provided to you. Look at your contract.)

These franchisor websites fall into 2 categories:

  • You have a website from your franchisor that allows you to add blog posts and those blog posts have a feed.
  • You have a website from your franchisor that will never allow you to add a blog, or blog posts, or make any changes.
  • Either way, there is a solution.

For scenario #1: You can have a blog, but you have to ask for it or pay for it to be added as a module to your website. DO IT. An integrated blog is important for many reasons.

For scenario #2: You can’t have a blog added to your current website. Period. However you can have a separate wordpress blog. DO IT. Worth every penny to have a simple well branded blog established for many reasons.

As the franchise owner, if you want more visibility in your local area, you need to do the following:

  • Have your corp office add a blog to your current website. (or pay to have it added).
  • Blog post relevant fun content every week.
  • Make sure that content automatically hits your Facebook Business Page, Your Twitter, Pinterest, and Linkedin accounts.
  • Establish a local newsletter. (NOT THE CORP GENERIC ONE, YUK). Set up an automatic newsletter that goes out to your prospects one time per month. It should be an RSS fed newsletter that = “set it and forget it”. This is critical and important to your local success.
