Join our team of kick-ass web developers & designers and help us develop web apps & sites w/ Symfony2 & ExpressionEngine.

We have two open positions for mid and senior PHP developers to join our web team at Newism in our Newcastle (Australia) office. We’re a tight team of designer / developers who work closely on a range of internal and client projects. You’ll never be bored again.

What you’ll do:

• Web development in PHP, MySQL, Javascript and xHTML including:
• Developing Symfony2 Applications (internal, & clients)
• Developing custom ExpressionEngine Addons for clients and http://ee-garage.com
• Work with our UI designers to bring our creations to life
• Improve and define our development methodologies, processes, and systems

What you need (the bare minimum):

• Several years of real world experience
• Proven technical and business portfolio (contributions to open source projects would go a long way)
• Effective time and project management
• Work at a commercial speed
• Knowledge of source code management (we use GIT)
• Strong understanding of object oriented MVC web development & AJAX

If you have these skills / knowledge / experience it would be awesome:

• Symfony2 / CodeIgniter and ExpressionEngine frameworks
• Automated build / deployment systems
• Basecamp Workflow
• Content Management Systems
• Other technologies such as NGINX, PHP-FPM, APC, Memcache, Varnish, and CDN.

Personal:

• A love for the web, the internet and series of tubes (not big trucks)
• An exceptional attitude towards learning, creating and working in a team. We can give you the tools, training and experience but you have to bring your A game.
• Good, friendly communication skills
• A love of good food and craft beer would go a long way (but isn’t a requirement)
