Work with Australia’s leading SME credit reporting site.

We are seeking a skilled front-end developer who has strong design skills to start ASAP. Our sites are almost 3 years old and starting to look dated. The role is for 2 to 3 months to update the interfaces for 2 to 3 of our websites to look modern and professional.

Location

The role is based in North Sydney and must be completed in our offices. Sorry remote work is not an option, however we are flexible around a blend of most days in our office and some days working from home.

About us

We compete in the credit reporting industry. There is two other main competitors and a host of smaller players. We launch three years ago and are VC funded. We sell both subscription services and on-demand reports. We like to work as a close integrated team and require the candidate to work from our offices in North Sydney. Work attire is smart causal.

The role

Our industry in highly professional and first impressions matter. We feel our sites are not giving our users the best experience leading to lost opportunities. We want to increase sale volumes and revenue. We know we are the best in the industry and want to make sure this is reflected in our public image.

You will be creating the new layouts and implementing them. This will involve:

  • Crafting the design and user experience:
  • Collecting sample screenshots of other websites for concepts – e.g. using LittleSnapper
  • Designing and refining the new sites’ layouts from the concepts in either PhotoShop or Illustrator.
  • Designing customer experience e.g. when to use AJAX instead of a page reload.
  • Implementation:
  • Coding the HTML5, CSS3, jQuery/JavaScript, and the views’ PHP.
  • Ensuring cross-browser graceful degradation
  • Working closely with the back-end development team to make changes to the controllers, routes and data from the models.

    You must be able to manage expectations and be a strong communicator. You are confident with your ideas and willing to work with the team when we see things differently.

    Critical skills

    • Strong designer
    • HTML5 guru
    • CSS3 artisan
    • JQuery ninja
    • Intermediate PHP – mostly foreach loops and if…else conditionals

    Advantageous

    • Worked with CodeIgniter (or similar OOP MVC framework)
    • Worked with GIT

    Remuneration

    This is a freelance role for roughly three months, you advise us of your competitive rates based on a 20 day working month.
