• Salary range: $89,616 to $99,011 pa + attractive super

• Location: ABC Ultimo Centre, Sydney

• Contract up to 30 June 2013

We are looking for an experienced UX professional to join the ABC Innovation team working on high profile online and mobile products and projects.

In 2012-13 the ABC Innovation division will be implementing new functionality across ABC Online and upgrades to its Mobile services. This involves development and implementation of a user registration system and recommendation engine, as well as continuous improvements to the ABC’s core online and mobile products.

Reporting to the UX Lead the successful applicant will be responsible for creating great user experiences for ABC online and mobile platforms.You will collaborate with creative and production teams on researching and developing requirements, wireframes, prototypes and UX/IA specifications.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

• Work with creative, research, business and development teams to design and execute excellent interfaces and user experiences for complex web and mobile applications.

• Create standard Information Architecture documentation including wireframes, sitemaps, user flows, user scenarios, functional specs and navigation schemes.

• Build mock-ups and functional prototypes.

• Plan and conduct usability evaluations and testing.

• Collaborate with the development team and stakeholders, ensuring design solutions are successfully implemented.

• Contribute to planning, implementing and documenting projects with content staff, developers, managers and other staff inside and outside the immediate team.

• Work effectively within a small, cross-disciplinary design & development team, fostering and maintaining positive relationships in order to enhance output and facilitate the efficient production of online content.

• Advocate and apply the ABC values and apply all relevant ABC policies and guidelines including Editorial Policies, Equity & Diversity and Work, Health & Safety.

Selection Criteria

1. Oustanding skills in user experience design covering information architecture, interaction patterns, usability and accessibility, demonstrated by proven experience in the complete product development lifecycle of successfully launched web, mobile and/or software applications.

2. An understanding of audience groups, their related behaviours, and proven experience conducting and analysing audience research and user testing .

3. Understanding of the strengths and constraints of contemporary web development technologies and implications of designing for multiple devices. Superior knowledge of leading UX tools and software.

4. Prototyping and/or coding skills are a plus.

5. Demonstrated skills in planning and prioritising projects and tasks working under pressure to tight deadlines.

6. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently as well as within multi-disciplinary project teams is highly desirable.

7. Tertiary qualification in Human Factors, Design, User Interface Design or related field.

8. Experience as a UX practitioner working on high traffic entertainment, news, or other public facing websites and/or mobile properties preferable.

9. Understanding and commitment to relevant ABC values, policies and practices including Editorial Policies, Equity & Diversity, Work, Health & Safety.
