Capturing Customer Information | Internet Marketing For Plumbers

by admin on May 18, 2012

Every Plumber in your city has a website, and every Plumber in your city is competing for the same customer. In order to develop a long term relationships with potential clients you need to go the extra mile. Now in the plumbing industry a lot of the people looking for your services may be in an emergency situation, and before you say, “that’s not true” an emergency for a home owner could mean their garbage disposal is clogged. Putting the typical plumbing services aside, lets look at what I describe as the long decision services like: Tankless Water Heaters, bathroom remodeling, running pipe for a wet bar. These are services people tend to read up on, and take time make a buying decision.

This is a great opportunity to educate people, make sure the information on your website is informational and educational, hence the description “A Sticky Site” meaning when people find you they stay a while. The ideal situation is to get information into your website visitors hands when they leave. A white paper is the ideal tool to harness this relationship. You are basically trading educational materials for contact info. So lets say you have someone visiting your site that is looking for information on the benefits of tankless water heaters. On your tankless water heater page you offer up a lot of educational information and then have a area that says, download our free white paper explaining all the benefits of tankless water heaters and how they can save you money. A simple form requesting an email and name is filled out and the client walks away with the white paper, which includes all your contact info.

Now this is where it gets even better, not only do they have your info, you have their info. With the right marketing tools in place like an emailing auto responder system, you can drip market to these potential clients every couple of weeks with additional info about tankless water heaters, perhaps a coupon. The whole idea is keeping your name in front of them while they are in the buying frame of mind.

So many plumbing companies just create a website for the sake of creating one, and never try and use it as a marketing tool. Your website is a major marketing tool and can be used to sell your services to people in search of a plumbing company in their city.

Recipe For A Great E-Book

  • Eye Grabbing Title – This is a must, the title sells the book, it has to be enticing enough to capture the attention of the reader. Example: 5 ways a tankless water heater will save you money, The essential guide to bathroom remodeling, 10 mistakes not to make when hiring a plumber.
  • Images – I get a lot of e-books and the ones that are text only make me dizzy, photos break up text and make reading more enjoyable and hold the readers attention for longer periods of time.
  • Link out to related content – Some will print and read your ebook but most will read it on their computers. Linking out to additional information and videos on your website gets the person back to your website.
  • Social Sharing icons – You have to have your social links in the guide. This gets visitors to your social sites like Facebook and YouTube where you are sharing more information and establishing yourself as an expert, and if you are doing social media right, you should have a customer testimonial or two.
  • Call to action – This is the place to sell, get a call to action in there, yes it’s all about info, but lets face it you want to make the sale at some point.
