Contract Position for Approximately 9 Months

$69,804 - $76,082 p.a. + Generous Super

Objective:

ABC Television requires an experienced front-end web developer to work within the Multiplatform Production team to develop and enhance highly interactive websites and cross-platform online services for ABC TV.

ABC TV Multiplatform is focused on convergence television, connected and mobile devices, internet broadcasting, online communities and marketing and promotional projects supporting and extending the content offering of ABC TV broadcast business.

Key Accountabilities:

Front-end HTML/CSS and Javascript development to develop new TV websites and integrate them with ABC's internal content management systems.

Architecture, development and deployment of cross-platform front end applications that integrate with both ABC developed and external web services.

Work with design and IA specialists to provide creative technical solutions for interface elements, interactive forms and complex web layouts.

Development and testing of cross-platform client-side code to integrate ABC content with emerging platforms such as connected TVs and mobile devices.

Work productively within teams, and foster and maintain positive relationships in order to enhance output and facilitate the efficient production of creative content.

Update and enhance existing TV websites with interactive content and new UI features.

Actively promote the ABC values and apply all relevant policies and guidelines including Editorial Policies, Equity & Diversity and OH&S.;

Selection Criteria:

Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as computer science, multimedia, interactive development or related field is highly desirable.

Minimum 5yrs experience building usable, accessible websites using HTML/CSS and Javascript. In-depth knowledge of W3C standards and cross browser testing.

Demonstrated highly advanced expertise in using Javascript frameworks and libraries to develop attractive online interfaces and tools, particularly using rich media.

Demonstrated outstanding teamwork, verbal and written communication skills, and experience working closely with UX designers to achieve a polished UI result.

Demonstrated highly advanced talent in and knowledge of emerging technologies and trends relating to standards, accessibility and performance.

Knowledge of PHP and server-side development an advantage. Experience with developing Flash ActionScript and online video streaming interfaces an advantage.

Demonstrated outstanding skills in planning and prioritising projects and tasks working under pressure to tight deadlines. Motivation and ability to identify key technology issues and take appropriate action.
