We’re looking for a new Design and Development team leader for ABC Open (http://abc.net.au/open).

This is a position to make sure the websites and other digital presences contribute to ABC Open’s strategic goals, with a strong emphasis on getting the best out of the team and running development projects.

You’d be working with a great team on a great project. ABC Open is a major initiative for the ABC to create wonderful content with our regional audiences. We’re committed to building a great website, with fantastic content and forming new relationships with our users.

We’ve already taken huge strides in setting up the project. We want this team leader to build on the foundations that are in place, take the website to a new level, and bring their ideas and passion to the job.

Key Accountabilities:

• To lead the team who design, develop and maintain ABC Open; including websites, mobile, and social media platforms, so that they meet audience needs and the strategic objectives of ABC Radio.
• To manage design and development work so that features, functions and products are delivered at a high quality, within available resources and time, meeting network and audience needs.
• To contribute expert knowledge on how the content, audience and strategic objectives of ABC Open can be best realised on digital platforms.
• To ensure that the character, tone and style of ABC Open and the ABC is translated to digital platforms.
• To contribute to a culture of excellence and innovation in ABC Radio Design and Development.
• To support and apply the ABC’s Policies, from Corporation-wide policies including Editorial Policies, OH&S, Equity and Diversity, and digital-production policies including User Interface Guidelines and Development Guidelines.

Selection Criteria:

• Outstanding leadership and teamwork skills and experience in an online and or mobile design and development context.
• Outstanding technical project management skills in both waterfall and agile settings, covering stakeholder communication, work breakdowns, timelines, quality, resource and risk planning.
• Great product management skills and knowledge.
• Great knowledge of online design and development principles and techniques.
• Excellent insight into the aims and goals of ABC Open and an ability to apply that to the website and other digital products.
• Tertiary qualification, or extensive training in a relevant field; design, development, project or product management, with exceptions made for outstanding experience.
• Excellent understanding of online and mobile audience behaviors, the media industry, and an outstanding ability to communicate that understanding to stakeholders, and apply it for the networks.
• An exceptional understanding and commitment to relevant ABC policies and practices and workplace values, including Editorial Policies, Corporate Equity & Diversity Policies, OH&S Policies, and their relevance to online development.
