As well as managing abc.net.au some of our recent projects include triple j Unearthed iPhone App, Gallipoli, ABC iView, ABC iPad applications such as Foodi and the ABC’s main mobile & tablet apps, Bluebird the alternative reality game, and several projects utilising Ushahidi mapping technology.

We are seeking a talented and passionate digital designer with demonstrated industry experience and a strong portfolio of interface design, including Flash, illustration and typographic skills to join our design team.

Reporting to the Creative Lead and working in close collaboration with other Designers and Information Architects, you will need to be highly motivated, have an insatiable appetite for creating cutting edge graphics and regularly keep abreast of industry trends. You will be responsible for creating both stunning and dynamic designs across a range of digital platforms and applications including online, mobile and other new technologies.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

• Design from concept to realisation a wide range of complex interactive components and projects, including websites, flash applications, and mobile, delivering to deadline.

• Produce engaging designs, illustrations, animations, site maps and wire frames of consistent quality and technical compliance that will enhance the creativity, usability, accessibility and innovation of abc.net.au.

• Ensure adherence to production guidelines, and maintenance of new media design standards and apply industry best practice.

• Liaise with developers, producers and project managers on the design, development and structure of complex websites/gateways and other new media projects.

• Work effectively within production teams, fostering and maintaining positive relationships.

• Advocate and apply ABC values and all relevant ABC policies and procedures including Equity & Diversity and OH&S;

Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualifications in multimedia or graphic design and relevant industry experience a must.

• Demonstrated experience in designing a wide range of complex, interactive components and applications, including website interfaces, flash applications, wire frames, sitemaps, animations and mobile applications.

• A good working knowledge of information architecture design.

• Strong proficiency in a range of graphic software applications, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash etc.

• Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and effectively within a team environment.

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to communicate proactively and effectively with internal and external clients.

• Ability to take direction from the Creative Lead as well as project owners and deliver to production guidelines and deadline.

• An understanding of and commitment to the ABC’s aims, objectives and workplace values, together with relevant policies and guidelines including Editorial Policies, Equity & Diversity and OH&S;
