ABC Innovation develops and manages the award-winning website abc.net.au, attracting over 26 million weekly accesses and growing. We also deliver some of Australia’s most cutting edge applications for the internet, mobile and other platforms; some of our recent projects have been triple j Unearthed iPhone App, Gallipoli, Black Saturday, ABC iView and Sydney Sidetracks.

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated User Experience Architect to join our design team. The role reports to the Creative Lead, and works in close collaboration with Designers, Project Managers and Developers. You must have an excellent understanding of web usability issues and familiarity with the techniques and process for designing and producing Innovation projects including websites, interactive and mobile/iPhone applications.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

• Produce and manage the production of sophisticated information designs that enhance the usability and accessibility interfaces of innovative productions.

• Perform high-level information design tasks and take responsibility for the design of complex, high profile new media productions/presentations.

• Ensure adherence to production guidelines and maintenance of new media design and information architecture standards.

• Advise Producers/Projects Managers in the design and structure of websites/gateways and other Innovation projects.

• Ensure adherence to production deadlines and apply industry best practice utilisation of web-based technology.

• Advocate and apply ABC values and all relevant ABC policies and procedures including Equity and Diversity, and OH&S

Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualifications in information architecture, usability & accessibility interface design or new media design, and relevant industry experience.

• Demonstrated experience in producing advanced information architecture solutions (site maps, wire frames flow charts, navigation) for content driven new media platforms in an industry environment.

• Demonstrated experience in innovative interface solutions for interactive media projects such as websites, mobile applications and content management systems, with mobile experience a particular advantage.

• Strong knowledge of contemporary information design principles including a track record of creating functional interfaces for a range of new media applications.

• Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and effectively within a team environment and good communication skills

• Demonstrated organisational and planning skills, and the ability to deliver to schedules and deadlines.

• Experience in user testing and research an advantage.

• An understanding of and commitment to the ABC’s aims, objectives and workplace values, together with relevant policies and guidelines including Editorial Policies, Equity & Diversity and OH&S.
