ABC Television is seeking an experienced developer for online applications and game development. The developer will be part of the Children's Online team that aims to deliver Australia's most innovative and popular online activities.

The Children's Online team is part of the Multiplatform team within ABC TV. The Multiplatform team is focused on convergence television, internet broadcasting, online communities and marketing and promotional projects surrounding ABC TV programs.

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop, deploy and maintain a range of complex interactive applications, games and interfaces for a variety of target audiences.

• Write well planned out, clean, documented and re-usable code.

• Author technical documents (technical and functional specs).

• Work with online producers and interactive designers to identify content demands and user requirements.

• Optimize web development for clean user experience and performance in a high-traffic environment.

• Maintain highest coding standards and best practices.

• Manage and guide other developers in creating solutions and standards for interactive projects.

• Recommend emerging technologies that benefit and create efficiencies for multiplatform projects.

• Advocate and apply all relevant ABC policies and procedures, including Editorial, Equity & Diversity and OH&S.;

Selection Criteria:

1. Tertiary level Computer Science or web development related degree.

2. Demonstrated high level expertise in development with object-oriented PHP and frameworks such as symfony or kohana.

3. Demonstrated experience creating object-oriented Actionscript 3 and/or object-oriented Javascript based rich internet applications that integrate with rich media and dynamic server-side content.

4. Demonstrated experience in developing valid, cross-browser HTML/CSS.

5. Experience with SQL database design and optimisation, especially for user-generated or personalised content.

6. Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor other developers.

7. Being able to work to deadline with a structured, organised approach whilst maintaining clear development standards.

8. An understanding of and commitment to the ABC's aims, objectives and workplace values, together with relevant policies and guidelines including Equity & Diversity and OH&S.;
