This is a medium/heavyweight position to design the front-ends of new parts of the websites and other digital presences.

ABC Radio is looking for a great UX Designer to help make ABC Radio National and ABC Classic FM's websites, mobile presences and presences throughout the internet.

You'll be part of a small, highly skilled team of developers, designers, IAs, project managers, working alongside the networks' content makers. You'll have the chance to work with other ABC UX designers, exchanging ideas and skills through project work.

You'll be able to articulate your thinking behind design decisions to developers, project managers and content makers and work creatively within constraints and guidelines.

You'll understand visual branding as well as human interaction, and be able to translate theory and principles into practice. You'll have an interest, if not experience in mobile, and understand the relevance of social networks to radio networks, to design.

Key Accountabilities:

• Design excellent, elegant, attractive interfaces for highly functional online tools and content presentations associated with ABC Radio National, ABC Classic FM and other Radio Multiplatform activities.

• Maintain and apply excellent skills and knowledge of online user experience design, graphic design, interaction patterns and usability, and apply those to projects and tasks.

• Perform routine design maintenance tasks including preparation of banners, and promotional graphics.

• Contribute to planning, implementing and documenting projects with content staff, developers, managers and other staff inside and outside the immediate team.

• Share knowledge and skills with relevant staff inside and outside the Radio Division.

• Work effectively within a small, cross-disciplinary design & development team, fostering and maintaining positive relationships in order to enhance output and facilitate the efficient production of online content.

• Advocate and apply ABC values and all relevant ABC policies and procedures including Equity & Diversity and OH&S.;

Selection Criteria:

1. Demonstrated excellent skills in user experience design for web based products and services. Experience in designing for mobile platforms an advantage.

2. Demonstrated excellent knowledge and implementation of user experience principles, covering graphic design, information architecture, interaction patterns and usability.

3. Tertiary qualification in Human Factors, Design, User Interface Design or related field is highly desirable, with exceptions made for only the most extensive experience.

4. An understanding audience groups, their related behaviours, and an ability to apply that understanding to design practice.

5. An understanding of brand strategy and how to work with brands across digital environments.

6. Demonstrated outstanding skills in planning and prioritising projects and tasks working under pressure to tight deadlines.

7. Demonstrated outstanding ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams projects.

8. Demonstrated outstanding ability to foster an open and creative approach to user experience design that shares ideas, skills and knowledge across teams.

9. An understanding and commitment to relevant ABC policies and practices, including Editorial Policies, Corporate Equity & Diversity Policies, OH&S; Policies, and their relevance to online development.
