ABC Innovation develops and manages the "abc.net.au":http://www.abc.net.au website and delivers cutting-edge applications across web, mobile and other platforms.

Innovation requires an experienced candidate to join our team as User Experience Lead. Reporting to the Editor abc.net.au, this role works in close collaboration with information architects, designers and developers both within Innovation and across other divisions of the ABC. The successful candidate will be an expert in user experience of the internet, mobile devices and social media. You will take responsibility for developing best practice and consistency in the usability of ABC new media services.

Key accountabilities:

- Fulfilling a consultative capacity across the ABC by being involved in project definition & development processes and recommending best practise UX solutions.

- Keeping across emerging trends in the user experience space and supporting implementation of new methods and tools.

- On-going development, maintenance and communication of the ABC’s User Interface Guidelines.

- Mentoring IA staff in the Innovation division and supporting their professional development.

- Hands-on development of IA for selected projects.

- Ensuring high standards of usability and accessibility across ABC Innovation’s projects.

Success criteria:

1. Outstanding level of expertise in designing and leading the UX design of online & mobile interfaces for sites and applications. Experience across other platforms a benefit.

2. Excellent, in-depth knowledge and demonstrated implementation of UX principles, covering creation of wireframes, sitemaps, information architecture, interaction patterns, usability and accessibility including experience in managing/conducting user research and usability testing.

3. Tertiary qualifications in Design, User Interface Design or related field required, with comprehensive relevant industry experience.

4. Outstanding skills in planning and prioritising projects and tasks working under pressure to tight deadlines.

5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively with a team environment with excellent written and verbal communication as well as strong team and stakeholder management skills.

6. A detailed understanding and commitment to relevant ABC policies and practices including Editorial Policies, Corporate Equity & Diversity Policies, OH&S; Policies, User Interface Guidelines and their relevance to online user experience design.
