Release Manager

at GSI Commerce in King of Prussia, PA, USA

We currently have opportunities available for Change/Release Management in King of Prussia.

The Release Manager's role will include:

- Individual will be validating that Change and Release Management Processes and procedures are being performed effectively and consistently by all development groups.

- Ensuring the consistency of test environments

- Providing maintenance and administration functions for test environments

- Tracking corrective actions of change related incidents to reduce the trend.

- Verifying that implemented Change Request's (CR's) have had a Post Implementation review.

- Monitoring and reporting success/failure of changes.

- Seek to acquire and categorize root causes to failure modes associated with Change failures and validating that corrective and preventative activities occur and are communicated across development groups where a similar risk might exist.

- Supporting the software development group in the design of solutions based on requirements.

- Working within a development framework that includes involvement with configuration management, code reviews and test support.

- Developing and managing the testing and roll out schedule for and across all functional groups involved in the release.

- Working across functional groups involved in the release.

Experience -

Minimum Requirements:

- Experience in Change Management / Production Control environment to co-ordinate and manage changes in a technical/development environment

- Experience with Linux (Red Hat) or UNIX environments.

- Experience with Java, JavaScript, JSP, Beans, HTML and DHTML.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

- Minimum of 3 years experience in as a Technical team leader or prior experience as a Release Manager, preferably in an Application Service Provider model or e-commerce software development.

- Understanding of common technology regarding Unix, WinTel and Network.

- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in configuration management / Production Control environment.

- Demonstrated understanding in Java based development efforts.

- Demonstrated understanding with Java and the design of solutions for N-tier systems.

- A good understanding of the software development life cycle.

- Prior experience working in or with a Quality Assurance team.

- Advanced diagnostic, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

- Proficiency with UNIX operating system (Linux).

- Strong knowledge of the Internet, PC basics and software.

- Strong working knowledge of MS-Office products: Outlook, Word, Excel and Project.

- Must be able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

- Project Management experience.

- Strong written, organizational skills and verbal communication skills required.

- Familiar with source control system.

Desirable Requirements:

- Demonstrated proficiency in managing releases to production and migration of commercial software.

- Demonstrated knowledge of J2EE software development cycles in a Web environment.

- Proficiency in Linux, TCP/IP, JavaScript, JSP, beans, HTML and DHTML.

- Ability to manage and coordinate daily schedules and process to ensure accurate and timely execution of tasks.

- Reporting status of scheduled tasks.

- Strong training skills and customer service focus (internal customers).

- Experience with moving software releases to test and production environments and syncing environments.

- Software development process management and project management skills and

- Experience with Linux (Red Hat) or UNIX environments.

- Experience with Java, JavaScript, JSP, Beans, HTML and DHTML.

- Experience with MQseries messaging.

- Experience with eCommerce a plus.
