ABC Television is looking for an experienced web developer to play a lead role in creating new websites for upcoming shows, and developing and supporting existing ABC television websites and interactive services.

This position forms part of the Multiplatform TV team that aims to deliver Australia's most innovative and popular online activities. The Multiplatform team is focused on convergence television, internet broadcasting, online communities and marketing and promotional projects surrounding ABC TV programs.

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop, document and maintain ABC TV websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Actionscript and ABC content management systems.

• Liaise with graphic designers, information architects, program-makers, marketing, technical, and research staff to provide technical and creative solutions and to deliver projects on schedule.

• Ensure output conforms to ABC TV Online production guidelines & complies with W3C web standards.

• Integrate and update flash content into new and existing websites as requested.

• Provide production and general assistance to TV Online projects as required.

• Working productively as a member of a small production team.

• Advocate and apply all relevant ABC policies and procedures, including Equity & Diversity and OH&S.;

Selection Criteria:

1. Demonstrated high-level web development skills in a cross-platform environment. Must have solid competency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

2. Experience developing websites using JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as jQuery, DOJO, Prototype etc.

3. Working knowledge of W3C web and accessibility standards WCAG 2.0

4. Proven experience developing cross-browser compatible sites (inc. IE6)

5. Experience working with open source server side technologies such as Wordpress, Drupal etc.

6. Demonstrated understanding of Flash & Actionscript 2&3.

7. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and experience translating designs into HTML & CSS

8. Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a small multidisciplinary team.

9. Sound organisational and problem-solving skills, and motivated to deliver projects on deadline and within budget.

10. A good working knowledge and understanding of ABC output and corporate policies, including Editorial, Equity & Diversity, OH&S; and the ABC Values, as well as guidelines relevant to young audiences.
