The ‘Schramko’ button improves email opt-in rate by 25%

Posted by James in Conversions, How To

I am a fan of testing things since you can gain huge advantages when you compound the results of a winning test over several years. When you can pull a test result of 10%, 25%. 100% or more than 1000% you will get bigger results much faster!

Background for this idea

There were a number of articles I read indicating that consumers have gone ‘blind’ to the standard ‘we value your privacy’ message which is the bare minimum for email capture page best practice. Some genius marketers have exploited this fact by offering monthly paid ‘trust seal’ and verification services. I decided to test the results of a button that had more prominent trust indicators. Normally I will change a ’submit’ button text to ‘Click Here For Instant Access” and that has seen conversions improve dramatically. I took this a step further and animated it. My designer started with a yellow (with slight orange shade) button to improve visibility. Next we added and a GREEN (for go) ‘NO  Spam’ text with a trusty shield logo. This made the button a bit deeper than the non ‘no spam’ version.

This is what the ’schramko’ button looks like:

Tested over 10,000 impressions

The results over an A:B split test of 5000 serves of this button versus 5000 serves of the same button without the No Spam text showed the ‘No Spam’ version with a 52% conversion versus the 42% without. I hope this test result motivates you enough to try it out on your own site! (That is nearly 25% more).

Permission to use

You have my full permission to use the ‘Schramko’ button and even link to it directly if you please. Be sure to post your own test results using the schramko button. Enjoy and profit from it! Please comment below and also let me know if you would like me to publish some of my many other winning conversion tests…
