This is a brilliant opportunity to work on the future of ABC Radio National and ABC Classic FM.

We’re looking for a design and development team leader with great project and product management experience.

ABC Radio National and ABC Classic FM are hugely important to the ABC, both occupying unique positions within Australian media, and both services have huge possibilities to entertain, inform and engage audiences on the internet, on mobile, in social media and – no doubt – in whatever comes next.

You’ll be working with the networks’ senior management on priorities and strategy for future design and development, while making sure that the existing online audiences are well served.

We’ll be looking for someone with exceptional communication, stakeholder management and team leadership skills, with detailed knowledge of building websites and/or mobile sites, and a track record of getting things done – on time, in budget and at high quality.

You’ll have a brilliant understanding of online, social and mobile media, and have a deep commitment to the goals and purpose of ABC Radio National and ABC Classic FM, and strong ideas of how to combine the two.

In this job, you’ll be working alongside specialist online and radio content makers, making sure their work connects with audiences wherever they are.

Key Accountabilities:

* To lead the team who design, develop and maintain the digital presences, mostly for ABC Radio National and ABC Classic FM; including websites, mobile, and social media platforms, so that they meet audience needs and the strategic objectives of ABC Radio and their respective networks. * To manage design and development projects so that features, functions and products are delivered at a high quality, within available resources and time, meeting network and audience needs. * To contribute expert knowledge on how the content, audience and strategic objectives of the Networks can be best realised on digital platforms. * To ensure that the visual identity of the networks and the ABC is translated to digital platforms. * To collaborate on project work with colleagues from the networks and other areas of the ABC including technical and editorial staff. * To support and apply the ABC’s Policies, from Corporation-wide policies including Editorial Policies, OH&S, Equity and Diversity, and digital-production policies including User Interface Guidelines and Development Guidelines.

Selection Criteria:

1. Outstanding leadership and teamwork skills and experience in an online and or mobile design and development context. 2. Outstanding technical project management skills, covering stakeholder communication, work breakdowns, timelines, quality, resource and risk planning. 3. Great product management skills and knowledge. 4. Great knowledge of online design and development principles and techniques. 5. Tertiary qualification, or extensive training in a relevant field; design, development, project or product management, with exceptions made for outstanding experience. 6. Excellent understanding of online and mobile audience behaviors, the media industry, and an outstanding ability to communicate that understanding to stakeholders, and apply it for the networks. 7. An exceptional understanding and commitment to relevant ABC policies and practices, including Editorial Policies, Corporate Equity & Diversity Policies, OH&S Policies, and their relevance to online development.
