Software Engineer, at ABC Radio

This job ad has been posted over 31 days ago...

at ABC Radio in Sydney

We need a good software engineer to join the ABC Radio Multiplatform team building genuinely interesting, high profile projects.

At the moment the job is mostly working on ABC Open, a project to bring social media and regional users together. We’re working on geography, participation and the semantic web technologies.

The team feels like a start up, and has a commitment to building really great web experiences for our audience.

We’re heading towards our first release in late August, but we do build within an agile methodology, and will be continuously adding tools, features and services to the website throughout its life cycle.

The immediate team has six people combining design and development skills, working with a project manager and an editorial team.

The office is in Ultimo, near Central Station, Chinatown and a walk through the Devonshire Tunnel to Surry Hills.

It's an initial six month contract, but we're very likely to have an ongoing need. We can talk about that once we've got a chance to get to know each other.

Skills:

- PHP (including any MVC framework - we're using Kohana)

- Web Services/APIs (we're working with flickr, twitter, facebook and vimeo)

- XML/XSLT

- PostgreSQL Database

- Unix/Linux (specifically set up and maintenance)

- Data Modeling, URL Design & RDF (specifically translating between requirements and documentation)

- Scalable Architecture (including Memcache, APC, Akamai)

- Deployment (using tools such as Hudson)

- Version Control and continuous integration tools

- Agile development processes.
