Love coding and music? Valleyarm’s Brisbane Office are looking for a PHP/CodeIgnitor programmer with keen interest in music for full time contractor role.

Valleyarm Digital are a leading technology services provider to the independent music industry. We are the Asia Pacific market-leader in digital services for independent record labels, distributors and aggregators – delivering globally into Music Services such as iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, eMusic, Nokia and many more.

We are looking to employ a front-end developer in a permanent full-time contractor position in the Brisbane office.

Position summary

The Front End Developer provides core technical input to Valleyarm projects and products (open source and custom) and assists managing the LAN and web server networks for internal and external clients. The Front End Developer writes scripts, programs applications, builds, updates and improves internal, artist and label websites, updates sites/applications, creates site templates, maintains and develops existing products, provides technical support to customers, encodes music and video files for transporting to digital music stores, contributes to assigned open source communities and assists managing the hardware and software infrastructure to ensure Valleyarm projects and services.

The Front End Developer is an integral member of the company and will contribute to other initiatives which include but is not limited to business development, marketing, joint venture projects, system administration, and conference, seminar and meeting attendance. Interest in developing widgets, Facebook and Twitter apps and anything new is a must!

A love of music and desire to help innovate the artist experience through Internet technologies is key.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Programming and Coding

* Performs PHP and CodeIgnitor application development * Participates in the development of detailed component specification from project specifications * Converts creative designs into web page templates * Customises style sheets and formats content (builds customer sites) * Contributes to testing of applications * Contributes to application security and control processes * Provides front line tech support to clients and staff * Participates in continuing professional development opportunities * Keeps up to date with technology by researching work related websites

Product Development, Management and Maintenance

* Provides direction on CSS and Standards development and implementation for all Valleyarm projects and products * Contributes to the advancement of Valleyarm’s web solutions including components and modules * Contributes to testing of applications * Contributes to research and development activities * Develops and maintains Valleyarm’s web systems * Develops and maintains Valleyarm’s joint venture products * Develops new products (research and development)

Technical Customer Support

* Prioritises, allocates, analyses and resolves client technical problems * Handles front line phone and email technical support for clients and staff * Updates customer FAQs and company knowledge base

Website and Multimedia Production

* Installs and configures new websites (components, modules, web templates etc) * Loads content and builds websites with Content Management Systems * Liaises with customers to build, test and release completed websites and some multimedia productions * Encodes videos, music files * An in-depth understanding of digital music, videos and formats * Converts creative designs into web page templates * Customises style sheets and formats content * Familiar and adept with MySpace, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube

Competencies and Experience

Required

* 2+ years commercial experience using PHP, CodeIgnitor, HTML/DHTML, XML, SQL, CSS * Understanding of Web Standards, usability and accessibility * Knowledge of Linux, Windows 2000, XP and Mac OSX operating systems * Knowledge of Apache web servers * Knowledge of music, video file formats and encoding * Strong attention to detail and ability to check own work * Demonstrated time management skills and experience meeting deadlines * Good understanding of web browsers and design constraints * Ability to assist in all aspects of web development * Highly developed oral and written communication skills * Excellent phone manner important for customer support work * Ability to work on several projects simultaneously * Enthusiastic attitude and passion for working in IT * A team player with a strong customer service focus and experience dealing with clients * Ability to calmly and confidently communicate and work effectively under pressure * Going the extra mile to get things done * Pro-active attitude * Be open to suggesting and executing new ideas * Thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment * Work quickly and efficiently under pressure and sometimes stressful conditions * Be passionate about music and technology * Have a great attitude * Be willing to help out where needed

Preferred, not essential

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, Business, Multimedia * Skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash * Knowledge of Apple iTunes Exporter and Producer * SEO and SEM knowledge * Strong creative and design sense * Self-motivated, methodical approach, process-oriented, problem solver, sense of humour * Ability to spot opportunities and convert into revenue
