ABC TV seeks an experienced digital media manager to lead the strategic development and operational management of ABC internet television services. The key responsibility for the position is to oversee and implement an operational strategy to deliver user-friendly video experiences to ABC viewers through IP delivery, both online and on emerging platforms.

This role manages the ABC iView internet television service and the associated team of staff as well as the ongoing strategic development of the iView service. The brief includes strategic planning around iView and internet television, product management and content strategy for the evolving iView service. The Manager Internet Television Services will also lead the development of iView on emerging platforms including connected TVs, set-top box and mobile devices.

The successful candidate will have experience leading teams that deliver best of breed online video services, superior analytical and strategic planning skills, product management experience and an understanding of the dynamic online, IPTV and VOD landscape.

The role will report to the Controller of Multiplatform Production, ABC TV.

Key Accountabilities:

• Team Leadership: Lead a cross-disciplinary internet broadcast (iView) team, communicate the vision and strategic goals and ensure effective teamwork to achieve identified outcomes.

• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic planning for the next stage of ABC TV's internet television operations in line with divisional strategy, ensuring audience growth and efficient delivery of ABC content on iView and on emerging platforms.

• Product Management: Provide effective product management for iView as a software based service, prioritise and plan new features and enhancements, manage development and release cycles for online and other platforms.

• UX and Technical Management: Oversee the user experience and technical development of iView to ensure delivery of a seamless, audience focused best-of-breed internet TV service.

• Stakeholder Management; Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders in Marketing, Programming, Content Production, Rights Management, IT, ABC Commercial, ABC Innovation as well as external partners in order to achieve identified strategic objectives.

• Innovation: Identify opportunities and new ideas to extend and enhance ABC distribution, including exploring new platforms, syndication, collaboration with external distribution partners and leveraging social networks to maximise the reach of ABC services.

• Administration: Perform administrative functions to facilitate the smooth running of the work area and effective management of staff, budgets, and production schedules.

• Industry Knowledge: Actively monitor and evaluate trends, issues and technological developments in the national and international digital broadcasting environment. Identify opportunities and recommend options for enhancing the ABC TV brand in the digital environment. Consider current and future trends and their impact on strategy.

Selection Criteria:

1. Tertiary qualified, with a minimum of three years experience in a management role including senior project management overseeing the roll out and delivery of a high quality Internet video distribution service.

2. Highly-developed technical and production skills and expertise in application development, design and delivery of on-demand video services.

3. Extensive experience and a proven track record in leading and directing creative and technical teams in a deadline-driven production environment.

4. A professional business orientation, together with high-level strategic and analytical ability, planning, organisational and negotiation skills.

5. Excellent communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to present and promote ideas and strategic objectives to internal and external groups at all levels, and negotiation and decision making skills.

6. Demonstrated skills in resource and budget management, planning and reporting.

7. A demonstrated understanding of new media and digital broadcasting technologies and business models including commercial licensing, knowledge of audience and industry trends.

8. An understanding of and commitment to ABC objectives and corporate policies, the broadcasting industry and the public policy environment in which it operates.
