POSITION: LEAD FRONT-END WEB DEVELOPER

The Adsmith is an advertising, graphic design and web development studio based in Athens, Georgia. With over 25 years in the advertising and design industry, The Adsmith has positioned itself as the premiere resource for national and regional companies to execute their marketing and branding initiatives. The Adsmith is currently seeking a Lead Front-End Web Developer to enhance its award-winning web creative team.

The Lead Front-End Developer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of front-end website buildout, managing and prioritizing the web development workload, guiding the web team, working and collaborating closely with the design team and always problem-solving to achieve creative solutions while maintaining a level of excellence in all work. Additionally, there is a client-facing component to the role — meeting with clients during the project development phase to ascertain needs and functionality requirements, and providing assistance, training and troubleshooting as necessary once a project is launched.

Candidate must be a team player with a positive, can-do attitude, and comfortable with continuously changing opportunities and priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with designers and project managers to create pixel perfect renditions of designs using hand-crafted standards-compliant table-free HTML, CSS that works across all major browsers, and error-free Javascript.
  • Integrate and customize various CMS platforms (particularly WordPress and ExpressionEngine).
  • Continue to refine the web development process for The Adsmith by authoring standards documents, exploring merging techniques, ensuring quality control and being an expert in the field.
  • Meet with clients to plan projects, answer questions and resolve issues.
  • Work with Art Directors/Designers to ensure designs can be accomplished within technical specifications and deadlines, and present ideas and solutions based on technical requirements.
  • Desire and ability to define Best Practices for Web Development team.
  • Solve technical problems and develop reusable, portable and sustainable solutions.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Expert-level XHTML and CSS experience.
  • Strong ability to code for cross-browser compatibility and ability to troubleshoot as necessary.
  • Understanding of W3C open web standards.
  • Experience with use of AJAX, MySQL, JavaScript and various JavaScript toolkits (particularly jQuery).
  • Experience with the integration of various CMS platforms, especially WordPress and ExpressionEngine.
  • Experience with the integration of various e-commerce platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of PHP.
  • Intermediate skill in Photoshop.
  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving ability.
