• Salary range: $81,615 to $90,171 pa + attractive super

• Term : 6 months contract

ABC Innovation is looking for an experienced digital Project Manager to play a lead role in managing major online development projects. These may include projects for our Networks and Strategic Development departments, but the main thrust of the role will be to manage the technical and development aspects of a major new audience-facing initiative, in conjunction with the News team.

The Project Manager, Innovation will work closely with the Project Director, Innovation, as well as other project managers, producers and internal and external delivery teams to scope, plan and deliver strategic projects in line with major new developments for both ABC Innovation and our partner divisions; News and Television Multiplatform.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Manage multiple strategic technical projects to ensure requisite infrastructure is in place and develop applications, widgets and new services to support ABC News content and distribution in conjunction with Television Multiplatform and Innovation.

2. Produce documentation including technical and business requirements, project scoping and functional specification.

3. Track resources and project budgets to deliver within the wider News and Innovation programme of work. Lead teams including producers, developers, designers, and work with external partners to translate content ideas into technical and creative solutions.

4. Work with stakeholders in Marketing, Rights Management, IT, ABC News, ABC TV Multiplatform and ABC Innovation in the development of applications and services on new platforms and with new partners.

5. Provide support to the Project Director and other project managers / producers on existing projects within the ongoing Innovation programme of work.

6. Advocate and apply ABC values and all relevant ABC policies and procedures, including Equity & Diversity and OH&S;

Selection Criteria:

1. Extensive experience in online and digital project management (4 years minimum) including production planning, scope and requirements definition and the ability to manage multiple projects to deadline and within budget.

2. Demonstrated high-level understanding of relevant technology including front end (HTML/CSS, Javascript, Flash) and back end development programming languages (.NET, PHP). Experience with Adobe Air, Symbian, Android, iPhone would be advantageous.

3. A professional business orientation, together with analytical, planning, organisational and stakeholder management skills.

4. Experience in project managing the development of a wide range of digital services. Experience in media streaming and the development of desktop and mobile applications is highly desirable.

5. Experience of working within AGILE frameworks is desirable, with qualification in a structured project management methodology (PRINCE2/PMBOK) also useful.

6. Excellent communication, written and verbal, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to present and promote ideas and strategic objectives to internal and external groups at all levels, and negotiation and decision making skills.

7. An understanding of and commitment to the ABC’s aims, objectives and workplace values, together with relevant policies and guidelines including Editorial Policies, Equity & Diversity and OH&S.;
