Program Director at GSI Commerce

Reporting to the Senior Director, Project Delivery, the Program Director is a leadership position within the project management organization. This position will oversee the timely initiation, management and closure of a program of technology projects for a specific set of Business VP's / Partners. The Program Director will be responsible for driving the successful and timely delivery of revenue-generating initiatives through the use of established project management practices and standards set by the GSI project office.

The Program Director will be expected to provide purpose, direction and motivation to project managers assigned to their client's projects and will have ultimate responsibility and ownership for the quality and execution of their project, based on predetermined project metrics. . The Program Director and his or her team will maintain all financial, labor-based and status-related information for all projects managed within his or her Business VP / client stakeholder group.. This information will be reviewed on a regular basis by senior management both inside and outside the technology organization.

A person in this position must have the ability to meet commitments, work autonomously, accept accountability, manage conflict, have superior communication skills, manage a significant demand for projects, work collaboratively with matrixed resources, and drive positive change through the organization.

The candidate will be expected to partner with leaders from business areas and maintain a catalog of current and future projects.

The Program Director will be expected to Understand the Partner's business and serve as an integral member of the Partner's team responsible for technology deployment. Work strategically with GSI Partners on the development and/or deployment of new features/functions and technology projects. Work with Partners on the rollout/deployment of GSI Roadmap products and provide Partners with recommendations and guidance on the use of existing GSI features/functions to achieve their business objectives.

A Program Director will be expected to have superior proficiency in the following areas:

Leadership skills ' This position will manage the deliverables of project managers, technical, business, client and other functional resources assigned to projects under their direction. . The candidate will be expected to create and maintain a collaborative work environment across multiple stakeholder groups, set goals, give clear direction, provide decisive and positive direction / feedback to members of his or her team, and empower individuals to take initiative and responsibility for their projects. A successful candidate will demonstrate and insist on ethical and professional behavior in accordance with corporate values.

Project Management ' This position will have accountability for the successful delivery of multiple, simultaneous large projects. Candidate will work together with business and technology leads to build well-structured project plans that segment projects into pre-defined phases. A Program Director will be expected to use expert communication and leadership skills to establish a common understanding of project timelines, milestones, and expectations on delivery. Candidate will provide leadership and direction to project managers and development resources, insist on high-quality project deliverables, and intelligently identify issues requiring escalation when reporting project status. A Program Director will need to use his or her experience and judgment when advising management on the effects modifications to project schedules and budgets. Candidates have the ability to communicate project implementation options that affect cost, schedule, quality, and risk to stakeholders, as well as offer recommendations based on these elements.

Relationship Management ' Should have ability to motivate and build collaborative teams who are dedicated to project delivery, encompassing stakeholders from Products and Technology, the business, the client . Candidate will work in collaboration with senior management from specific business verticals and should be able to build a strong partnership with these individuals.

Required Education/Experience:

' Certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) a plus

' BS or MS in a computer-related field or equivalent experience

' Minimum 15 years of experience of seasoned, full life-cycle management of large scale technical projects

' Demonstrated ability to lead up, across, and down multiple business and technology organizations

' Prior involvement with high-visibility projects and managing multiple projects concurrently

' Experience with Project Management Tools (i.e., MS Project, RPM, Primavera helpful)

' Proven exceptional written and oral presentation skills
