When: 7pm-late, Friday 2nd October

Where: Pyrmont Bridge Hotel (Upstairs), 96 Union St, Pyrmont (Map)

Be there at the beginning: come and celebrate the start of the first ever Australian Web Week with us. Featuring the launch of a world premiere exhibition by Yiying Lu, designer of Twitter’s iconic “fail whale”, who has put together something special in conjunction with augmented reality pioneers MOB.

With drinks and nibbles thrown in, you don’t want to miss this event, but you will need to RSVP here as numbers are strictly limited.

About the exhibition

Designer of the iconic Twitter fail whale, which is employed by the social networking service Twitter during periods of downtime caused by over capacity, Yiying Lu designs beautiful, engaging, intelligent, charming and fun filled images, which delight the viewer.

The white mammal has been such a success that it has earned it’s creator a Shorty Award in NY – the equivalent of the Oscars which awards the best short content creators on Twitter - and one of Next 100 Emerging Leaders in Innovation by The Australian. Read more about the Fail Whale here.

In this, her first ever public show, Yiying has collaborated with Augmented Reality pioneers MOB, to deliver artwork that genuinely has to be seen to be believed. Come along and check it out, upstairs at the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel.

After the opening night, the exhibition will run until Tuesday October 6th, when it will move to the expo area of Web Directions South 2009.
