We are looking for an experienced User Interface Engineering Manager who has advanced to exceptional JavaScript skills, cross browser development and some server side development experience. This individual would have to hit the ground running in this fast paced environment.

Responsibilities for this role will include:

  • System architecture – both conceptual for new work, and evolutionary for established functionality.
  • Engineering processes – creation, refinement and adherence to all processes that cover the software life-cycle.
  • Provide technical leadership to the UI Engineering team.
  • In collaboration with the broader Product Management team, plan and execute the major releases.
  • Act as a leader for the introduction of innovation and change in the UI engineering processes.

To be successful in this role you will need the following skills and experience:

Essential

  • Have created and maintained a library of useful XHTML, CSS, JavaScript code and reusable widgets using JSP, Velocity and/or J2EE custom tag libraries
  • Previous experience with complex software solutions across all aspects of the application software life-cycle from specification to development to testing to sustaining.
  • A strong commitment to appropriate processes and process evolution.
  • Management experience with mid-sized teams tackling complex technical problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially clarity of communication and guiding individuals to positions of compromise for the benefit of the larger team or organization.
  • Handling customer escalations and complaints.
  • A passion for software quality.
  • Interfaced with server-side developers using Model-View-Controller (MVC) principles
  • Experience in developing AJAX based interfaced/components using standard frameworks like jQuery
  • Familiarity with web-development tools like Firebug and Fiddler
  • Strong knowledge of W3C standards and cross-browser interoperability
  • Developed web applications (as opposed to web sites) and preferably Software-as-a-Service SaaS applications
  • Experience with incremental UI improvements to an interface rather than rewrites
