"Eskadron Bizarre" started out in 1988 as a pirate radio show full of mainly dance music. A member of "Liquid Sky" (another alternative radioshow on 'Radio Active' presented by the notorious 'Eric Van Landeghem') regrouped and joined forces with a new technician 'Zebra242' (also known as 'Kywee' at that time).

The radioprogram moved from one radiostation to another: starting with Radio Atlantica in Mortsel en ending with Xtra FM in Lier (moving to Lier was caused by the opening of the La Rocca discotheque).

"Eskadron Bizarre" got burried in 1992, after 'Eric' left the show and was replaced (we haven't heard from him since) and 'Zebra' (aka 'Kywee') got seriously sick. The last broadcast on 'Xtra FM' was a non-presented show, only Zebra was there to mix the 2 hour program.

In 2004 'Zebra' met 'Dawn' and he literally saw the light again, after being a dj in places like 'Southside', 'Mirror Image' and 'Prosperity'. 'Zebra' never was a discotheque dj, he was a radioman. At that time he was already largely interested in internet radio. In 2005, 'Dawn' and himself decided to have another go at 'making radio', inspired by podcasting and the 'Compost Radio Show'.

On 24/04/2005 they recorded their first show, presented by 'Dawn', after drinking large amounts of red wine. The compilation of the program was made at an earlier date and was done by 'Zebra', who also prepared the jingles : just like in the days of old.

The podcast was setup mainly because both were largely frustrated by the quality of fm-radio stations. The same commercial songs were played over and over again, pushed by the big labels. Another reason for their big dislike of the known radio stations, were the 'fun and games'. Music was set aside for the big ego of the dj-presentor, and genuine voices were no longer heard. The absolute lack of content on fm-radio convinced them they could do better. Besides the whole philosophy of 'Eskadron Bizarre' was to go very 'niche'.

Shortly after launching the podcast, Zebra launched a moblog 'Gizzmophonic Orchestra', but he was too upfront trying to make podcasts for mobilephones in 2005.

Internet by than was left bereft of its original creativity and energy by the establishment of online business, but a few had seen the parallel growth in non-commercial directions. Like f.i. blogging. Later came podcasting. Their approach on making the Eskadron Bizarre - show was trying to make a non-linear radio show, like Zebra's compilations on his iPod or burned cd's made for 'Dawn'. The internet, they saw as a utitity to handle the distribution of the content they want to provide to you as well.

Eskadron Bizarre was hosted on several sites: the Skynet - & Blogspot blogs were the most consulted. The Skynet blog, which is no longer maintained, has over 48.000 views.

In the beginning of 2008 (22/1/2008), disaster struck: the studio in Lier caught fire when 'Zebra' was at work. 'Dawn', who was home sick, nearly died in the fire, luckily she escaped to prevent the whole house from being burned. All vinyl and cd's got burned in the fire and 'Eskadron Bizarre' was on the homeless again. Due to insurance problems the homesite (the technomad.be domain) fell asleep for over a year. But in 2009 'Eskadron Bizarre', as a phoenix, rose out of the ashes.

Various friends supplied old broadcasts back to 'Zebra' and co-workers of the communicationbureau his was working in 2008 supplied him with over 19 Gb of mp3 files before he left the firm. In april 2009 the first test pc caught fire again. Again caused by a short circuit. May 1st 2009 'Eskadron Bizarre' got baptised 'iCAST' and a first dj- set of mid-nineties dansemusic was released on the net.

iCAST went away from the closed usergroup 'Eskadron Bizarre' was before: iCAST stands for new, open and positive. Tune in and don't drop out.
