• Salary range: $62,961 – $76,651 pa (pro-rata) + attractive super

• Term: contract until 30 June 2009

• Location: ABC Ultimo Centre, Sydney

ABC Innovation develops and manages the award-winning website abc.net.au, attracting over 26 million weekly accesses and growing. We are also responsible for driving strategic innovation in the ABC through developing new areas of content creation, audience connection and platform distribution, in partnership with other ABC content divisions.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join a small team that develops content presentation solutions for websites across the ABC and implements these designs as templates to minimise ongoing production maintenance load. Reporting to the Editor abc.net.au, this role calls for a person with a solid technical developer skill set

Key Accountabilities:

1. Create and develop code template-based and one-off presentations in a variety of web-based application formats, using advanced skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, Flash, XML and content management systems.

2. Work closely with a producer to author presentations in a rapid production environment.

3. Ensure adherence to production guidelines and production schedules, and complies with W3C web standards

4. Maintain a good awareness of new media industry developments and audience trends, including software and production methods.

5. Work effectively within a team of producers, graphic designers, information architects and technical staff to provide technical and creative solutions and deliver projects on schedule.

6. Work effectively as a member of a small production team: build and maintain positive professional relationships with ABC production units to enhance output and facilitate efficient, audience-focused production.

Key Capabilities/Qualifications/Experience (Selection Criteria):

1. Demonstrated high level competence and experience with the techniques and tools used in digital / website content creation – including proficiency in HTML coding, CSS based positioning and layout, database driven content management system publishing and other web publishing conventions.

2. Demonstrated high-level knowledge of publishing techniques and tools for website creation, as well as a good understanding of design, usability and accessibility principles, coding and programming principles

3. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills

4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively under broad direction within a small team, prioritise tasks, and deliver projects on deadline.

5. Demonstrated strong knowledge of relevant new media industry developments and trends.

6. Awareness of relevant industry developments and ABC editorial policies an advantage.
