• Two contract vacancies up to 3 months and 12 months

ABC Innovation manages the popular abc.net.au website, attracting over 25 million weekly accesses and growing.

ABC Innovation Technology is actively engaged in developing exciting new projects for the ABC including rich media platforms, high quality video and audio streaming services and user-generated content applications. We are also responsible for major Content Management and Content Delivery projects that will revolutionise the way the ABC creates and delivers content from its media outlets and brands around the country.

We are looking for an experienced professional with expert XML/XSLT skills and who possesses strong development expertise in XML/XSLT technologies.. Experience with VBScript and/or JScript is also desirable. The person must demonstrate a highly developed ability to investigate, analyse, diagnose and solve complex technical problems.

Key Accountabilities:

• Plan and develop strategies for implementation of XML into ABC output systems.

• Consult with ABC production areas on implementation and approaches to XML usage.

• Develop systems for transformation of XML feeds into appropriate output using XSLT and ABC's internal XML transformation engine.

• Develop and research DTDs and XML schemas for ABC content to be output to external partners and for internal use from ABC's Content Management Systems.

• Prepare user documentation for XML/XSLT content systems.

• Work effectively with production teams, fostering and maintaining positive relationships.

Selection Criteria:

• Demonstrated development expertise in relevant XML/XSLT technologies.

• Demonstrated highly developed ability to investigate, analyse, diagnose and solve complex technical problems.

• Strong customer service skills, particularly during the requirements gathering phase.

• Experience with the practice of application development methodologies.

• Demonstrated high level of motivation and an ability to identify key issues and take appropriate action.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey or translate complex technical information to meet the needs of the audience

• Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and effectively within a team environment
