An important goal for Web Directions is always to help educate as many up and coming web professionals, spreading the word about standards and best practices to the next generation of our profession. One way in which we do this is via our scholarship program, where we offer 80% off to full time students. This year, the wonderful folks at Yahoo! Developer Network are supporting this program as our “scholarship enablers”, and many thanks to them for that.

Yahoo! are also involved with some of our other education focussed initiatives at Web Directions. Nick Fogler, who runs their internal training for front end engineers is participating in our Education Summit on Monday the 2nd (free to all who want to attend), and our all day symposium “Ed Directions” on Tuesday the 3rd, sharing his experience of the needs and strategies in regards to the skills and competencies required of their new employees in this area. YDN’s Christian Heilmann is also participating in Ed Directions - outlining the current state of the art in JavaScript and Ajax, to help educators best put together syllabuses and courses that develop the right skills for their students.

Thanks again so much to Yahoo Developer Network, and Nick and Christian, for their support and participation.
