IMMEDIA! seek a multi-disciplined individual to join their small Newtown-based team for full-time work on a diverse portfolio of projects.
IMMEDIA!, headed by Phil Tripp, publishes the AustralAsian Music Industry Directory, a vital biannual music trade contacts sourcebook available in print and online. The company represents the South by Southwest (SxSW) Music, Film and Interactive Festivals and Conferences – held in Austin, Texas – for Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii. In addition, they run the three-day AustralAsian Music Business Conference (AMBC), a biennial powwow for music industry aspirants and professionals alike.
IMMEDIA! also provide an extensive array of music industry resources including a music biz bookstore and a highly-trafficked news site, TheMusic.com.au.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing IMMEDIA!‘s Web content and subscriptions plus the ongoing development of its online presence. IMMEDIA!‘s sites include immedia.com.au, TheMusic.com.au, the Australian SxSW website and several book sales microsites
- Collating Music Directory advertiser artwork, creation of house ads, layout of key sections. This requires working closely with the Managing Editor and a layout artist contracted for the Directory’s production
- Producing an online version of the Directory and assisting with the migration of the Directory’s content to a database
- Creating engaging print and online promotional material for IMMEDIA!‘s book sales business, the Directory, SxSW and the AMBC
- Assisting with registration of delegates for the AMBC, plus onsite work and provision of visual aids for the sessions conducted at the event
- Managing the company’s Mac computer network and mail server
- Providing general technical assistance and advice to IMMEDIA! staff
IMMEDIA! are the ‘data drug dealers’ of the music industry. They produce a large volume of material and the successful applicant will possess the craft to present this clearly and concisely.
Required Attributes & Experience:
- An eye for clean design. Strong visual communication skills
- A strong command of grammar, punctuation and spelling
- Awareness of and adherence to Web standards, usability principles and cross-platform compatibility
- Proficiency and prowess with Microsoft Office, FileMaker and the Adobe suite. The ability to produce compelling print-ready ads
- Savvy with online technologies: MySQL, HTML and PHP. Ability to develop an online store and work with complex databases
- Apple OS X expertise
- At least 2 years professional experience in Web development and print design, producing work to prepress standards
