Painless cross browser vector graphics with Dmitry Baranovskiy’s Raphael Javascript Library

If you’ve not heard of Dmitry Baranovskiy yet, well, you will soon. Now at Atlassian Dmitry has only been in Australia a handful of years, coming here with his young family from the Ukraine.

Dmitry is not only very smart, he’s very imaginative, having wowed the crowd at WebJam several times, and winning at least once. He’s the developer of the excellent Optimus microformats parser/transformer, and he’s speaking on Canvas and SVG at Web Directions South.

Dmitry has just released a beautiful Javascript library, Raphaël, which makes it straightforward to work with vector graphics on the web. No longer is there any need to fret about lack of support for SVG in Internet Explorer, as Dmitry provides IE6+ support via VML.

I have a feeling this is going to be a very much talked about, used, and important step for vector graphics on the web.
