Denver | Web Directions North

Denver

Denver is a city of science and technology, and year round outdoor activities. Web Directions North aims to bring these all together with both 4 days of intense conference and workshops, along with an optional two days of skiing at the world class Breckenridge.

Denver also features a lively nightlife (the first permanent structure in Denver afterall was a saloon), great restaurants, and a diverse community.

And don’t forget dinosaurs. The city lies on some of the most fossil-rich land in the world.

At 5,280 feet above sea level, Denver is known as the “mile high city”. Situated at the foot of (not in!) the Rockies, the weather is surprisingly mild even in winter (average daily maximum is 47° in winter, with temperatures in the 60’s not unheard of), and with 300 days of sunshine per year, don’t let its mountain views mislead you.

As a hub city, and 4th busiest airport in the US, Denver is a non stop flight from over 140 cities in North America, with airlines such as Air Canada, America West, American Big Sky, British Airways, Continental, Delta, Frontier, Great Lakes, JetBlue, Lufthansa, Mexicana, Midwest, Northwest, Southwest, Ted, United, and US Airways.

Not quite in the middle of the continent, by air Denver is roughly two hours from the west coast and mid west, and three and a half hours from the east coast.

For more on getting to Denver (it’s quicker and less expensive than you might think) see our travel page.

Breckenridge

The most popular ski resort in North America for the last several years, Breckenridge is located about 80 miles from Denver. Its large area (2,358 skiable acres), large vertical (3,398ft), and extensive variety of terrain (from beginner to expert) mean whatever skill level, or attitude to skiing or riding, you’ll have a great time. Our ski trip to Breckenridge, on Friday the 6th and Saturday the 7th of February is open to conference attendees, and their families, and costs just $120 per day - which includes lift ticket, and luxury coach transfers to and from Breckenridge. If you are a first timer, we’ll even throw in lessons to get you started (and you’ll find yourself in excellent company).
