About the Organisation

Employment Office has operated Australia-wide, from a Brisbane head office, for the past five years and has now formed a Joint Venture for international expansion, with Flight Centre!

We are not a traditional ‘employment agency’ – we are a Recruitment Solutions organisation that is expert in effective recruitment processes and recruitment marketing strategies.

Some of our web-based applications include an advanced Applicant Tracking System and a range of internally developed job boards.

About the Opportunity

To cater for expansion and growth, Employment Office has an exciting opportunity for a full time Web Developer to join our dynamic team.

The bulk of time will be spent on the ongoing development of the functionality and technological direction of EO’s web applications, ensuring delivery of projects according to scheduled deadlines. You will also be required to provide technical support to fellow EO staff members.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in the following:

  • SQL
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Ruby on Rails
  • Javascript / AJAX (desirable)

Experience / knowledge in the following areas is desired:

  • Understanding of the complete web development process, W3C standards, and the ability to learn and implement new web technologies
  • *nix Server Administration
  • Version Control Systems – GIT
  • Database design and analysis
  • Performance optimisation
  • Deployment of web applications (desirable)
  • Development methodologies (e.g. Agile) (desirable)

Relevant qualifications will be highly regarded, but most importantly we are seeking someone with practical experience, good communication skills, and strong problem solving abilities. You should also be able to demonstrate initiative in design and coding, and be open to learning and keeping yourself abreast in this fast-moving industry. Please note – if you don’t meet all of the criteria above, but do have Java experience or experience with a MVC framework, and you are interested in learning Ruby on Rails, you are still welcome to apply.

As mentioned earlier, you will receive on-the-job training to develop your skills and ensure you are comfortable in the role.
