User Experience Developer

at SportsHydrant in Sydney

Would you like to work for a new Australia-based social networking startup?

We need someone who can herd cats and juggle chainsaws simultaneously, taking on a variety of roles including design, IA and user experience. If you know your way around some graphic design and can wrangle Photoshop, that would help a lot. Plenty of HTML and CSS-fu will seal the deal.

You’ll also be expected to be able to help manage the development environment by maintaining dev and test servers and keeping a handle on the code repo, issue tracker and project management tools.

Ideally, you’ll be based in Sydney, but if you’re not, don’t let that stop you from applying.

You will be dealing with other people, so being able to sit down with our design agency and give them guidance as well as talk to clients online and real life will be a must.

For senior level applicants, we want someone who can manage a small team.

Here’s the actual skill set we need:

  • At least a year’s experience in information architecture and user experience for Junior applicants, 3+ years for Senior applicants
  • Understanding of core principles of usability and Information Architecture
  • Proficient in coding HTML and CSS
  • Proficient in using IA and web design tools on OS X or Windows (you get to pick)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability work under tight deadlines
  • Strong understanding of social networking
