Google Trends. How are people searching on Google?
Jul 28
Ever wanted to know which phrases are searched more? In the example below you can see that the term SEO (in red) is searched more then search engine optimization(in blue). It seems that SEO has always been more popular, but more so in 2006. In fact, it seems it has been on a steady rise.
Keep in mind that this is in beta. Which means this info may not be 100% accurate. Try different ways of testing key words and phrases. Singular and plural searches on some results show a major difference, while others show very little difference. I am sure you can come up with some great ways to use this tool. If you discover anything new or have tips please post them.

Estimating invalid clicks in Google adwords
Jul 26
Inside adwords announced today….
“Today, we’re announcing the launch of a new AdWords feature enabling
advertisers to have a much more detailed picture of invalid click
activity in their account. The metrics of “invalid clicks” and “invalid
clicks rate” will show virtually all the invalid clicks affecting an
account.”
Google is trying to blame a 3rd party (consultants) for greatly exaggerating fraudulent clicks. Saying their (consultants) methodologies are to blame.

Getting out of the supplemental index
Jul 24
I recently wrote another article on how to get out of the supplemental. It seems there is a lot of conflicting ideas as to why pages hit the supplemental. Many people are saying only pages that have been removed from a site show up in the supplemental. This is not true. In fact all of these can cause you to hit the supplemental index.
Not enough content on the page
Duplicate content
Too many query strings in the URL
Orphaned pages… Pages not linked to any other inside your site
Titles and descriptions the same on every page
All links to your site are reciprocals and possibly to bad neighbors
A page that no longer exists may have an old cached version of itself in the supplemental listings

Jul 21
The Mr SEO contest is finally over. I can now be myself. If you enjoy people making an ass out of themselves, then this picture is for you. I don’t plan to post my mug here to often. I’ll stick to SEO as much as possible. But for now, cheers!
