First up a disclosure - very soon we’ll be announcing that Microsoft is a sponsor and exhibitor of Web Directions South, and they were also a sponsor at Web Directions North

BuilderAU is running a story I just saw on Microsoft Australia’s new Diversity Council, an initiative to ensure diversity and equity at Microsoft as a workplace.

The issue of in particular gender diversity in the IT industry is one that is commonly and rightly raised, and one that we at Web Directions has always taken seriously. We definitely try to ensure a good representation of women speakers at our conferences, on the whole far higher than the industry average, and to provide an atmosphere in which all attendees feel comfortable, and can enjoy our events, and take full advantage of them.

So it’s very encouraging to see this initiative. Other examples out there of workplaces and companies working to create diversity you would like to share?
