Memories

Let me take you back a couple of months, almost a year really. One particular Thursday evening in early February 2007, Web Directions (the conference) just finished wrapping up two days of inspiring talks, useful hands-on presentations, and no-keyboard-required in-person social networking. That’s about the point where you’d normally start closing down and saying goodbye to new friends and colleagues, pack your things, and get ready to brave the airport queues and return home once again.

But thankfully Web Directions (the event) was still not over. Far from it. With help from the great folks at Media Temple, Thursday night went out with a bang. The blowout closing party at Vancouver’s Library Square was made of the stuff from which legends are born.

And then somehow after an evening like that, we managed to wake up bright and early the next morning for the commute up to Whistler for two days of fun in the snow, be it skiing, boarding, tubing, or just checking out the view. With a base station like the Garibaldi Lift Company courtesy of our friends at Microsoft, you didn’t even need to go out into the snow to have a fantastic time.

Those were good times, weren’t they? Well here’s where I get to the point: we’re doing it all over again. Check out the first couple of sponsors we’ve confirmed in sidebar over there to the right. The WDN08 closing party is in the capable hands of Media Temple once again. Expect greatness. The Garibaldi Lift Company is going to be our home base at the foot of Whistler once again, thanks to Microsoft. Expect an unforgettable two days.

There’s still over two months to go, but we’re already getting excited.
