Web Directions North | February 6 - 10, 2007 Â

Alright, nobody has actually asked us any of these questions yet, let alone frequently. But “FAQ” is one of those curious historical terms we all get, and there’s information on this page we think you’ll want to know, so let’s just keep pretending for now.

  • When does Web Directions North happen?
  • Where is Web Directions North going to be held?
  • What does Web Directions North cost?
  • What’s included in the price?
  • Do you have student discounts?
  • Can I attend just the conference?
  • Can I just do a workshop?
  • Are there group discounts?
  • Where should I stay?
  • Do the venue have WiFi?
  • What’s the weather like in Vancouver in February - freezing right?
  • What’s the deal with the trip to Whistler?

Q: When does Web Directions North happen?

A: The conference itself runs on February 7th and 8th (Wednesday and Thursday), 2007. There’s also an optional day of workshops on Tuesday February 6th, and post conference trips to Whistler Ski Resort on February 9th and 10th.

Q: Where is Web Directions North going to be held?

A: Web Directions North will be held in the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside, Vancouver, Canada, on the waterfront, right in the heart of Vancouver’s downtown.

Q: What does it cost?

A: Web Directions North costs $895 CDN until January 14, and thereafter $995 CDN. For the first 100 people to sign up, we’ve discounted the price by $100 to just $795 CDN. All prices are in Canadian dollars (making it a great deal particularly for our friends from the U.S.) Workshops run for a whole day, and cost $495 CDN, or $395 CDN for conference attendees. A whole day’s trip to Whistler costs $120 CDN, and includes return luxury private coach, lift tickets, and refreshments on the coach. See more on the pricing page.

Q: What’s included in the price?

A: Web Directions North includes

  • Two full days of conference sessions
  • A conference laptop bag full of goodies
  • Lunch, morning and afternoon tea fully catered each day
  • The Web Directions Reception, with food, beer, wine and soft drink
  • A closing night party

Q: Do you have student discounts?

A: Unfortunately we are unable to offer student discounts to Web Directions North. There may be opportunities for unpaid internships during the conference, so please get in touch if you are studying web related subjects and would be interested in one.

Q: Can I attend just the conference?

A: Yes, definitely.

Q: Can I just do a workshop?

A: Yes, you may go to just a workshop (although there is a $100 discount for conference attendees).

Q: Are there group discounts?

A: Yes, there are group discounts of 20% off for 5 or more attendees. The group discount only applies to the conference and not workshops, accomodations or ski trips. If using the group discount, no other promotional codes or discounts will apply.

Q: Where should I stay?

A: There are many accommodation options in Vancouver but rooms can be hard to come by at this time of year. We’re currently able to offer a rate of $169 at the conference venue. You can’t get closer, and you’ll be right where the action is, with all the speakers staying there too. See the venue page for more details.

Q: Does the venue have WiFi?

A: To be determined, but it looks likely. There will certainly be in-suite internet access (at a premium), but the venue WiFi will be free if we manage to work out the details.

Q: What’s the weather like in Vancouver in February - freezing right?

A: Yes, it’s winter, but Vancouver, being on the coast has a much milder winter than much of Canada. And being winter, we can ski at the home of the 2010 winter Olympics, Whistler. More on climate.

Q: What’s the deal with the trip to Whistler?

A: See the Skiing page for full Whistler details.
