Aussie Startup “Remember the Milk” featured in Slate

Monday, June 18th, 2007

We’ve always been fans here at Web Directions of “Remember the Milk“, an amazingly richly featured “to do” app online. Emily Boyd, one of the founders, came and spoke at an event of ours last year, and she and Omar Kilani, the brains behind the app both came to Web Directions South last year.

So, it’s exciting to see them get some great coverage in Slate magazine, an online magazine owned by the Washington Post, in a story about Google Gears (which RTM uses for offline storage).

Well done guys.

Australian “web 2.0″ apps

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Over at Read/Write Web, one of the most widely read blogs covering the web business/technology scene (and founded by New Zealander Richard McManus, making it an antipodean cousin of sorts) there’s a list of 60 Australian “Web 2.0 companies” (which I guess these days means web companies but by adding the 2.0 it makes them sexier or something )

Some of these are very successful long standing companies, others I’ve not heard of. But great to see so many in one place.

FreshView, home of Campaign Monitor seem a pretty glaring omission. What other apps and companies are out there? Let us know.

OK, I’ll be the first to admit to having played fast and loose with the law at various stages of my career. But, I’ve largely worked as an individual, or as part of a very small, under resourced organisation.

There is no excuse at all for playing fast and loose when you are the marketing department […]
